Cooling centers open in Omaha metro area

The Salvation Army has four cooling centers open in the Omaha metro area.

A Heat Advisory is in effect for the entire KIOS listening area until 8 pm Tuesday. The National Weather Service says temperatures will reach the upper 90s to around 100 degrees. The heat index could rise to above 110 degrees.

The Salvation Army’s North Corps, Kroc Center, Lied Renaissance Center, and Council Bluffs location are open as cooling centers. The North Corps, Kroc Center, and Lied Renaissance Centers are open from 8 am to 8 pm Monday and Tuesday.

The cooling centers will be open when temperatures reach 90 degrees or more for two days in a row.
