Council Bluffs Issues Call for Proposals

The City of Council Bluffs’ Community Development Department wants proposals for the development of Playland Park.

Director of Community Development Donald Gross says the 26-acre site at I-480 and North 41st Street in Council Bluffs is publicly owned.

He says the city issued a call for proposals on October 5th from interested developers.

Gross says the original master plan was prepared in 2008 but was delayed due to the economic downturn.

"We have amended the Master Plan.  The plan identifies 365 residential units which are 16 single family, approximately 50 townhouses, 70-80 condominium type projects, 184 apartment units and some mixed use structures with apartments above.”

Gross says proposals will be accepted through November 30th.  He says private development could begin in 2013.
