Council Bluffs Mayor, city officials help build Habitat for Humanity house in Omaha

By Katie Schubert

Omaha, NE – Council Bluffs Mayor Tom Hanafan and members of his staff spent part of the weekend in Omaha, helping to build a Habitat for Humanity house.

It was the result of a wager Hanafan made with Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle on the Iowa-Nebraska Heroes Game. Hanafan, members of the Council Bluffs city council, and other city officials helped Habitat volunteers work on a new house at 38th and Seward Streets.

Two Habitat for Humanity houses are being built there. Construction on both began in September, with completion scheduled for February.

Mayor Hanafan and his staff helped paint and landscape at the home. They were joined by Mayor Suttle and members of Omaha Serves.
