Council Bluffs School District seeking input on facilities

By Katie Knapp

Omaha, NE – The Council Bluffs Community School District is preparing a five-to-ten year Master Facilities Plan and wants the public's input.

Three public meetings are scheduled, including one Thursday night at Thomas Jefferson High School. Diane Ostrowski is Supervisor of Community Services for the District. She says the input is important as the District decides whether or not to build new schools.

Ostrowski says District officials also want to hear from parents, staff and residents about the best way to modernize elementary school buildings. The Council Bluffs Community School District has 14 elementary schools. Ostrowski says the average age of those buildings is 60 years.

The other two public meetings are scheduled for January sixth and eighth. District residents are also encouraged to take a survey on the District's web site, www.cb-schools.org.
