Creighton Bluejays await Selection Sunday

With Selection Sunday just around the corner, Creighton Bluejay fans will soon learn where their team will be sent in the NCAA men's basketball tournament.

When Omaha is a host site for the NCAA tournament, and Creighton is in it, fans have no choice but to keep up on the Bluejays from the concourse of CenturyLink Center as they did last year. That's because the Jays play their home games at CenturyLink.

As a result, Missouri Valley Conference commissioner Doug Elgin says Jays fans will have to resign themselves from ever seeing the Bluejays play NCAA tournament games in Omaha.

"Even if Creighton wasn't involved in the administration of the event, they couldn't play on their home court," said Elgin. "That's how the NCAA defines that policy."

But after winning the Valley regular season and post-season tournament, Creighton coach Greg McDermott hopes it merits consideration for playing just down the road in Kansas City.

"You know you'd love to," said McDermott.

Because he knows the Bluejays fans would show up in force.
