Creighton, Regis Announce New Partnership

By 2025, Occupational Therapists may have to have a doctorate just to apply for entry level positions.

A new partnership between Creighton University in Omaha and Regis University in Denver will provide a joint Occupational Therapy doctoral degree program.

Dr. Keli Mu, Creighton’s Chair of Occupational Therapy, says the partnership was created because of the clear need for competent practitioners in the field.

Mu says the demand for Occupational Therapists is on the rise as the population ages.  Students in the program will attend lectures and labs as well as gain experiential learning in the field.

"All the students in the program will watch the same lecture.  So for lab component, the on campus students, they will attend the lab delivered by Creighton faculty members.  For students in the hybrid cohort, they will attend labs on their own campus as well.”

Mu says all of the students will have access to academic support from Creighton faculty members.

At the successful conclusion of the program, students will earn a Creighton University diploma.  Mu says this is the first partnership of its kind between two Jesuit universities.
