Creighton University Hosting National Conference on Justice

Creighton University is hosting a national conference today through Sunday on the Commitment to Justice in Jesuit Higher Education.

Roger Bergman, Director of the Justice and Peace Studies Program at Creighton, says in 1975, the Jesuits made a commitment to include justice as a substantial part of all their ministries.

He says the conference is intended to establish a broader conversation among those who work for justice in Jesuit higher education.

"Since 2000, we have been meeting every four years, more or less, to assess, how we are doing on that commitment.  So this is a conference sponsored by the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities, the 28 schools in the US.  And Creighton is happy to be the host this time around.”

Bergman says there will be 47 breakout sessions during the conference.

Topics will include research and governance.
