Creighton University opens Native American Center

By Cheril Lee

Omaha, NE – Creighton University is now the home of a Native American Center.

The Center formed last summer with financial support from the Jesuit Community. Director Taylor Keen says the primary efforts of the program center on the recruitment and retention of Native American students.

Keen says the program's ultimate goal is to create a physical space that would be dedicated to the Native American people. For example, the Center might have a place where Native Americans can practice their traditions and share them with the public.

Keen hopes the Native American Center will help build a community for everyone at Creighton that promotes cross-cultural understanding. For more information, the web site is creighton.edu/nac.
