Omaha, NE – Creighton University will host its annual Americans with Disabilities Awareness Day tomorrow.

Lennis Pederson is the Associate Vice President for Administration and chair of the ADA committee. He says the ADA Day is Creighton's way of making more people on campus aware of the needs of people with disabilities. Pederson says the primary goal of the day is to involve as many people as possible. He says the afternoon will feature several hands-on experiences, "They'll be working a booth that has people with normal eyesight wearing special glasses that help them understand what it's like to work with vision impairment. They can experience a hearing impairment and a learning disability. Additionally, there's going to be an activity that's ambulatory. It's like a wheelchair scavenger hunt, if you will."

Pederson says other activities include the Buddy System, which helps people to better understand the hidden disabilities one might experience in life. Additionally, there will be a discussion on Asperger's Syndrome at 3:30. ADA Day events take place from 2:00 to 5:30 p.m.
