Creighton University's enrollment is up

Creighton University has enrolled the second largest freshman class in school history with a total of 1,023 students.

Mary Chase, Chief Enrollment Officer for Creighton, says what’s most important is they are grounded in their mission as a Jesuit university.

Chase says on a national level, the university is gaining greater recognition since joining the Big East Athletic Conference.

But she says it will be a few years until Creighton’s enrollment sees an increase because of that affiliation.

Chase says this year’s numbers are higher due to an increase in enrollment of students from neighboring states.

"The local market has become more aware and conscious of the excellent opportunity that’s in their backyard.  And that realization has increased our numbers in Omaha as well as Minnesota, Iowa and Colorado.”

Chase says with a slight increase in the number of graduate students as well, overall enrollment at the university is at a record high.
