Creighton University's student enrollment approaches 7,400

By Katie Knapp Schubert

Omaha, NE – Creighton University has a freshman class of more than 1,000 students for the second year.

Associate Vice President for Enrollment Mary Chase says last year, Creighton had 1,054 freshmen. This year's class will have 1,010 to 1,015 students. Chase says the university's enrollment is holding steady as interest from outside the metro grows.

Chase says the upward trend in enrollment is a testament to the university's programs. She says meeting the needs of a student population that continues to grow can be a challenge, particularly when it comes to housing and parking.

Earlier this month, Creighton was named one of the top universities in the country by the Princeton Review. The university also ranks as the top Midwestern university in U.S. News and World Report's list of the nation's best colleges.

Creighton's total enrollment this year is 7,385 students.
