Creighton's Women & Health Lecture Features Tess Gerritsen
Creighton University will present its 22nd annual Women and Health Lecture next Thursday.
Internationally best-selling author Tess Gerritsen is this year’s guest speaker. Gerritsen is a former internist who gave up her career in medicine to write novels full-time.
She is best known for her series of novels featuring homicide detective Jane Rizzoli and medical examiner Maura Isles. Gerritsen’s Rizzoli & Isles books are the inspiration for TNT’s series of the same name.
She says though medicine was her first career, writing was her first love.
"I wanted to be a writer way before I was a doctor. I had dreams of being a storyteller when I was a kid but my dad who was traditional Chinese-American, who really believed in security, told me I could never make a living as an artist of any kind. So I went to medical school to please him.”
Creighton’s Women and Health Lecture takes place Thursday, October 11th at 7:00 p.m. in the Joslyn’s Witherspoon Concert Hall. Gerritsen will be signing books after the presentation. For more information, the number is 402-280-2021.
