CSM Presents Advocacy & the Earth Lecture next Tuesday

Congressman Brad Ashford will speak at The College of St. Mary on Tuesday, April 5th about Advocacy & the Earth.

Kristin Mattson, Service Learning Director at CSM, says Congressman Ashford will specifically talk about sustainability and the importance of citizen advocacy.

She says the theology and political science course the lecture is built into, culminated with a trip of 13 students to Washington DC over spring break.

Mattson says the students learned about sustainability and environmental issues.

She says Congressman Ashford was in Omaha while the students were in DC so that’s part of the reason they asked him to speak.

"We’ve asked him to leave a lot of time for Q&A.  But we asked him to talk in the beginning a little bit about what he sees as pending environmental legislation, to talk a bit about his positions on important environmental legislation that he sees coming up in this session and then to talk about, in general, the importance of citizen engagement.”

Advocacy & the Earth takes place Tuesday, April 5th from 11-12 in the College of St. Mary’s Hillmer Art Gallery.  There is no charge to attend and participants are welcome to bring their lunch.
