Day of Caring Set for October 18th

United Way’s 12th annual Day of Caring will take place Friday, October 18th.

On that day, individuals from Douglas, Sarpy and Pottawattamie counties will volunteer their time to help out on a variety of projects for local non-profit organizations.

Shawna Forsberg is the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications for United Way. She says this volunteer service event is a great opportunity for people to get out and help in their community.

Volunteers can choose which specific activities they are most interested in when they sign up online.

"Various things are available and it tells you how many participants are still needed for each of the projects. And it allows you to work it within your schedule and also your interests.  We think it’s a neat way for people to have a direct hand in giving back in the community.  We are hopeful to have nearly 1,000 participants.”
