Democrat Ashford pledges to seek nonpartisan ideas

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Democrat Brad Ashford says he will work with representatives from both political parties when he joins the U.S. House.

Ashford defeated Republican incumbent Rep. Lee Terry and claimed victory Wednesday afternoon in the 2nd District Congressional race.

In his victory speech, Ashford repeated his pledge to seek nonpartisan solutions to the nation's challenges and work to change the culture of Washington D.C.

With all precincts counted, Ashford was ahead by more than 4,000 votes, and election officials said another 13,600 early ballots would not be counted until Friday. Terry conceded the race Wednesday afternoon.
