Design in Motion opens next week at KANEKO

KANEKO presents a new exhibit opening Tuesday, September 22nd called Design in Motion.

Mike Echternacht, interim executive director at KANEKO, says the exhibition is built around the concept of highlighting design and designers.

He says the exhibit doesn’t just look at automobiles but explores other means of transportation as well.

The exhibit fits with KANEKO’s mission since a big part of what they like to explore is the creative process.  Echternacht says vehicle design is a great way to showcase that process.

"The exhibition features 13 automobiles, about 35 bicycles, we’ve got an amazing boat and various other pieces within the exhibition as well.”

Echternacht says the centerpiece of the exhibition is a 1937 Talbot-Lago, a well-designed French automobile.

He says it has a coach build with amazing curves on it.  Other standouts in the collection include a 1967 Jaguar XKE and a three-wheel Messerschmitt.

Design in Motion is on display at KANEKO, September 22nd through January 2nd.  There is no charge to view the exhibit.
