Detroit Jazz Festival Highlights Program to air on KIOS

Program airs Thursday September 3rd at 8pmKIOS will once again air a 2-hour special of highlights from the Detroit
Jazz Festival. The broadcast airs Thursday September 3rd at 8:00PM.

Billed as the Philly-Detroit Summit, the 2008 festival celebrated the storied
jazz and soul traditions of these two great American cities. A salute to
Marvin Gaye arranged by bassist Christian McBride Is one of the many
highlights of the show. You'll hear performances from such luminairies
as Gerald Wilson, Pat Martino, and Kenny Burrell and some of today's
biggest stars on the jazz scene including James Carter, Roy Hargrove,
and Ravi Coltrane. The program is hosted by Linda Yohn of WEMU and
Ed Love of WDET.

The Detroit International Jazz Festival is the largest free festival in the world and was voted one of the top five festivals in the U.S. in the January 2008 JazzTimes Reader's Poll.
