DHHS announces new services for young people with developmental disabilities

About 325 Nebraska children with developmental disabilities will have new services available to them.

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services announced last week it'll add new programs, including job skills and education. Jodi Fenner, Director of HHS' Division of Developmental Disabilities, says the goal is to provide more educational and social opportunities for young people up to age 21. "The other new service options allow young people to participate in integrated summer recreational activities in their community, and this allows them to build social skills and personal community networking that will help them succeed in the future."

The programs are funded through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. More information is available at www.dhhs.ne.gov.
