Salvation Army Omaha’s17th annual DJ’s Hero Awards Luncheon takes place Tuesday, May 10th at 11:45 at the CenturyLink Center Omaha.
Susan Eustice, Public Relations Director for Salvation Army Omaha, says they will award nine heroes on the 10th.
Each winner will receive an academic scholarship of $10,000. Eustice says those attending will get to hear the stories of the nine students, all high school seniors.
She says all of the winners are born leaders who care deeply about others and their community.
"And most importantly, the ability to overcome challenges with grace and courage which each and every one of them do. We received nearly 200 nominations. It is so hard to pick these heroes. Everyone is worthy. It’s a unique scholarship that doesn’t’ necessarily look for the class valedictorian or the high school quarterback.”
This year’s keynote speaker will be Mike Ditka, former Chicago Bears head coach. For tickets or more information, the website is salarmyomaha.org.
