Douglas County Commissioners want the Omaha City Council to reject tax increment financing for improvements in west Omaha.
Commissioners approved a resolution Tuesday opposing the TIF District proposed for an area around TD Ameritrade’s new Omaha headquarters.
Commissioner P.J. Morgan introduced the resolution, saying there should be more scrutiny of how TIF districts are used.
The TIF district for the area around TD Ameritrade’s new headquarters borders Dodge Road, 114th Street, Pacific Street, and I-680. Ameritrade officials say the TIF is needed for infrastructure improvements in that area.
Omaha City Councilmen will vote July 24th on the TIF district.
