The Douglas County Election Commission announces new options for voters

Douglas and Sarpy County voters are receiving three-part postcards in the mail which include all the key points about voting for the November 8th general election.

Along with important dates, the cards contain polling place addresses and a request for an early voting ballot.

Voters can now take a smartphone picture of the early ballot request and e-mail it in.

Another new convenience is a drive-up drop box for early voting ballots. The drop box will be installed near the Election Commission office, at 115th and Davenport, on the median.

Brian Kruse, Douglas County Election Commissioner, has this information for those who prefer to vote early in person.

"The first day for in-person voting begins October 11th, and that goes through Monday November 7th.  Our office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.  In-person voting is just at our office.”

Voters outside of Douglas County must go to their respective election offices, but Kruse says the dates for in-person voting are the same statewide.

The last day to register to vote is October 28th, but after October 21st it must be done in-person at the election commission office.
