Douglas County man with multiple health conditions dies of complications from swine flu

By Katie Knapp Schubert

Omaha, NE – A Douglas County man in his 30s suffered from multiple underlying health conditions before being diagnosed with swine flu.

The Douglas County Health Department announced the man's death Thursday. He was hospitalized for several weeks before his death. The Health Department says the man suffered from congestive heart failure and diabetes. He tested positive Tuesday for swine flu. No additional information about the man can be released.

So far, 14,500 doses of the vaccine against swine flu have been distributed in Douglas County. More vaccines are on their way, and the Health Department hopes to hold a flu shot clinic next month.
