Douglas County reports spike in flu cases

By Katie Knapp

Omaha, NE – After a slow start, the flu season is underway in Douglas County. Health Department Director Dr. Adi Pour says there are more than 600 confirmed cases of the flu virus in Douglas County as of this week. She says that's the third highest instance of flu cases in the past 12 years.

Dr. Pour says you can lessen your chances of getting the flu by covering your mouth when you cough, washing your hands frequently and staying home if you're ill. She says the flu season usually peaks in February in Douglas County, but each year is different.
