Douglas County Treasurer enters Second Congressional District race
By Katie Knapp Schubert
Omaha, NE – Another candidate has entered the Second Congressional District race.
John Ewing announced earlier this week he'll run for the seat currently held by Lee Terry. Ewing is in his second term as Douglas County Treasurer. He was an Omaha Police officer for 24 years prior to that.
Ewing says his key campaign issue is jobs. "I believe we need to look at how, as a government, we can create an environment where business has a sense of certainty and gets trillions of dollars sitting off the sidelines back on the sidelines and in the game where they begin to hire people." He believes government should give American businesses more incentives to keep their jobs in the U.S.
Ewing says he also wants to look at a balanced approach to cutting the federal deficit that includes revenue, cuts, and efficiencies.
Republican Brett Lindstrom is also seeking the Second Congressional District seat.
