Dr. James Kimble talks about "The Nebraska Plan" at the Omaha Press Club

Dr. James Kimble, Associate Professor of communications and the arts at Seton Hall University, spoke at the Omaha Press Club during a special noon forum program earlier this month.

Kimble talked about “The Nebraska Plan,” a 1942 scrap metal contest organized by the publisher of the Omaha World Herald.  Kimble said the Nebraska Plan brought a whole nation together.

He said its effects reverberated across various battlefronts during World War II and changed the course of the war.

And Kimble said it would not have been possible without the efforts of Henry Doorly.

"My research into the scrap metal drive suggests that without Doorly’s “Nebraska Plan,” the allies could potentially have lost World War II.  And even if they had won, absent the scrap metal drive, the victory would have taken much longer, perhaps years longer, to actually win.”

You can hear Dr. Kimble’s presentation in its entirety on KIOS on Monday, July 13th at Noon.
