Durham Western Heritage Museum changes its name

Omaha, NE – The former Durham Western Heritage Museum has a new name. It's now just the Durham Museum.

Museum Director of Marketing and Public Relations Shawna Forsberg says the Western Heritage part of the title was dropped to better reflect the Durham's mission. In the past several years, the Durham Museum has formed partnerships with the Smithsonian, National Archives and the Library of Congress.

Forsberg says the name change isn't the only new feature at Durham. There's also a new lecture hall, which she says gives the Museum distance learning capabilities. The Durham can also bring in national speakers and is currently holding a lecture series there.
