Early Voting Begins

The Douglas County Election Commission mailed approximately 42,000 ballots on Monday for early voting by mail.

Brian Kruse, Douglas County Election Commissioner, says they will send another 40,000 ballots out later this month.

Kruse says early in-person voting begins Tuesday, October 11th at the Election Commission’s office at 225 N. 115th Street.

Voters may cast their ballots between 8:30 and 5, Monday through Friday.

Kruse says if you haven’t requested an early voting ballot yet, but want to vote now, simply go to VoteDouglasCounty.com and under the quick links, select “vote early."

"From there, you can fill out the early voting request.  We do have to have your signature so we can’t take them over the phone.  But then you can either fax those requests, email them in, scan them in or you can actually take a picture with your smartphone and email them to our address as well.”

Kruse says drop boxes around the county were also opened Monday for voters to return their ballots.  No postage is required to drop your ballot in a drop box.

He says new this year, the commission has a drive-up drop box at 115th and Davenport.

October 28th is the last day to register to vote and the last day to request an early voting ballot by mail.
