Early voting begins in Nebraska

Douglas County Election Commissioner Dave Phipps says so far his office has received about 32,000 early ballot requests.

He says the Election Commission expects to process between 80,000-90,000 early votes, between mail-in and in-person voting.  October 31st is the last day to get an early ballot mailed to you. Phipps says the sooner the request is made, the better.  "It’s a lot easier to get it now and hold onto it so you don’t have to worry about problems with the mail or anything happening when you get close to the election.  That would be the biggest thing.  Take your time, research everything and vote at your leisure.  You can drop it off at our office, drop it in the mail or drop it in one of the four drop box locations we have around the county.”

Phipps says Douglas County will have 28 new polling places and 31 new precincts open for the November 6 election.

If you live in Douglas County, you can print an application for an early voting ballot from www.votedouglascounty.com.

Sarpy County Election Commissioner Wayne Bena says his office has processed 7,500 to 8,000 requests for early voting ballots.
