Omaha, NE – Omaha voters will have only one ballot question to vote on January 25th: should Mayor Jim Suttle be recalled, or not?

If a simple majority of Omaha voters decide to remove Suttle from office, he'll be the second Mayor to be recalled. Douglas County Election Commissioner Dave Phipps says the deadline to mail a voter registration application to his office is this Friday. That's also the deadline to request an early voting ballot by mail if you aren't yet a registered voter. Early voting begins next Monday.

Phipps says a recall election works like any other special election, with polls open from 8 AM to 8 PM. If Suttle is recalled, City Council President Garry Gernandt will become acting Mayor.

A special election in January 1987 resulted in the recall of then-Mayor Mike Boyle.
