At Ease program providing counseling to veterans, families

Bellevue, NE – A new program is designed to help veterans, active duty servicemen and women, and their families get treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder.

Lutheran Family Services' Bellevue office is administering the At Ease Program. It provides counseling to those suffering from PTSD. Right now, the LFS program has 15 clients. A recent survey estimated that up to 35% of veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars are suffering from that condition.

Scott Anderson is one of the creators of the At Ease program. He says there are plans to expand it, which the hope that one day it'll be offered nationally.

Active duty military, veterans, and family members can receive PTSD treatment through the At Ease program regardless of their ability to pay. You can learn more about the program by logging on to www.lfsneb.org.
