Enrollment at Metropolitan Community College tops 17,000

By Katie Knapp Schubert

Omaha, NE – More than 17,000 students are enrolled at Metro Community College this fall.

MCC officials say that's up more than 2,000 students from last year. Growth happened at all seven campuses, with the Fremont campus experiencing the largest jump in student population.

David Ho is Metropolitan Community College's Vice President of Academic Affairs. He says more people are returning to school because of the economy. Ho says Metro also has many more first-time students this fall; that is, students straight out of high school.
