Esch plans another run for Second Congressional District

By Katie Knapp

Omaha, NE – An Omaha man who narrowly lost the 2006 election for the Second Congressional District seat is running again. Jim Esch is one of two Democrats seeking the seat currently held by Congressman Lee Terry.

Esch says he didn't plan to run again after his narrow defeat two years ago. But he says the momentum in this year's elections, combined with an outpouring of support, changed his mind.

Esch plans to focus on the economy, the war in Iraq and immigration during his campaign. He'll face Richard Carter in the primary May 13th.
