Explosion and fire destroy Old Market restaurant and building

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Firefighters worked through the night in below-zero temperatures to extinguish a fire in Omaha's downtown Old Market following an explosion at a popular restaurant.

The explosion occurred Saturday afternoon at M's Pub. No serious injuries from the explosion or subsequent fire have been reported.

The Omaha World-Herald reports that several people called 911 to report smelling natural gas shortly before the explosion.

The World-Herald says three people with minor injuries were taken to a hospital.

Officials evacuated the building that houses the restaurant and several other shops, as well as nearby buildings.

As of Sunday morning, fire crews were still spraying water on the building at 11th and Howard Streets.
