Farmers Market open Wednesdays through September in north Omaha

North Omaha residents have another opportunity this year to get fresh produce from a Farmers Market.

Last year was the first Farmers Market at Charles Drew Health Center. The Market opens again Wednesday, and will be open every week from 3 to 5:30 PM at 29th and Grant streets.

Douglas County Health Department Resource Specialist Phil Rooney says last year’s inaugural Farmers Market at CDHC was successful.  “It was probably the first time for many residents of the neighborhoods there that they were able to be within walking distance of fresh fruits and vegetables and healthy options for their families.”  He says the market offers families healthy choices they might not otherwise have easy access to.

Rooney says there will be six to eight vendors each week. WIC vouchers and SNAP benefits are accepted at the Farmers Market.
