FEMA opens two disaster recovery centers

By Katie Schubert

Omaha, NE – FEMA has opened two disaster recovery centers in Tekamah and Blair.

The centers opened Tuesday afternoon. Blair's DRC is open Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 7 pm. The DRC in Tekamah will be open three days a week, Tuesday through Thursday from 9 to 7.

FEMA spokesman Charlie Henderson says the DRCs are available for flood victims to ask questions and get information about assistance. He says residents can also register with FEMA at those sites.

FEMA officials say you should register even if you've already applied for assistance through another agency, reported damage or filed a claim. To register, call 1-800-621-3362 or log on to www.disasterassistance.gov.

There are plans to open additional disaster relief centers in other counties declared major disaster areas due to flooding.
