Omaha, NE – Film Streams' Silents in Concert series features classic silent films with live musical soundtracks.
Executive Director Rachel Jacobson says the series is challenging for the musicians because they have to be able to work within specific time constraints and still create something interesting. She says this is a great opportunity for audiences to combine the experience of seeing live music along with a movie classic.
"Since we have a repertory program and we are all about the history of film, we wanted to be able to play these silent films that were made before 1930. They do have soundtracks to them now. But the thing is usually those aren't the original soundtracks and they're not necessarily what the director intended."
The next film in the series is the vampire classic Nosferatu, coming up on October 21st at 7:00 p.m.
