Film Streams Seeks Submissions for Local Filmmakers Showcase

Film Streams is now accepting submissions for its annual Local Filmmakers Showcase.

Rachel Jacobson, Executive Director for Film Streams, says each filmmaker who is accepted receives a small stipend as well as a portion of the box office.

Jacobson says their films are also screened for a week at the Ruth Sokolof Theatre.

She says this is the 5th year for the showcase, which features filmmakers from Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota.

"We have had everything from music videos to documentaries and the whole idea is just to celebrate all of the great filmmaking in the region and it’s always pretty highly competitive.  We always get a lot of submissions.  And we have a jury of art lovers and art supporters who narrow everything down into a program that is digestible.”

Jacobson says during the showcase, audience members can buy a ticket and watch a variety of short local films.

Film Streams also hosts a party with the filmmakers.  Jacobson says the films can be any length and cover any period of time.

The 2014 Local Filmmakers Showcase takes place in October.
