Omaha, NE – Former New Jersey governor Christine Todd Whitman is the featured speaker for the 15th Annual Governor's Lecture in the Humanities.

Jane Hood, Executive Director for the Nebraska Humanities Council, says after Whitman's tenure as governor, she went to work at the EPA, where she promoted environmental improvements including reductions in sulfur emissions and water protection policies. Hood says Whitman's talk is titled "Staying Ahead While Going Green" and will focus largely on alternative energy sources and water issues.

Whitman's lecture takes place at the Lied Center for Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. on October 14th and is part of the E.N. Thompson Forum on World Issues. The event will also be simulcast on the UNO campus in the student center.
