Five candidates interview for District 7 seat on Omaha City Council

Omaha, NE – Omaha City Councilmen vote next Tuesday on a new District Seven representative.

Five candidates interviewed Tuesday morning for that seat. It was vacated when Chuck Sigerson resigned March first, citing health issues. 16 people applied for the opening, collected signatures and submitted their qualifications. A committee narrowed down the applicant pool to five finalists.

The District 7 finalists are:

-Stephen Kraft, a Douglas County Public Defender

-Gary Kudym, an insurance agent

-Thomas Mulligan, a longtime Union Pacific employee

-Jeri Regan, a financial planner and former teacher

-Scott Yahnke, a real estate agent and former Omaha Public Schools teacher

The candidate chosen as District Seven's new council member will be sworn in April 20th.
