Omaha Police Department via Facebook

Flags will be at half-staff until dusk Monday in Omaha to honor a Police officer killed Wednesday in a shooting.

29-year-old Officer Kerrie Orozco was killed in a shootout. It happened when the Metro Area Fugitive Task Force attempted to serve a warrant for 26-year-old Marcus Wheeler. Orozco was a seven-year veteran of OPD and a member of the gang unit.

In a news release, Mayor Jean Stothert says the Heartland of America Fountain and Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge will be lit in blue through Monday.

If you want to donate to the Orozco family, donations are being accepted by the Omaha Police Credit Union and Omaha Police Foundation.

Officer Orozco is survived by her husband, two stepchildren, and a newborn daughter.
