Former doctor has alibis for 4 Omaha slayings, attorneys say

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Attorneys for a former doctor say they plan to present alibis against charges that he killed four people with ties to an Omaha medical school.

The Omaha World-Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1hoqvN1 ) that the attorneys for Anthony Garcia filed a motion in Douglas County District Court this week, notifying prosecutors of their intent. Garcia's trial is scheduled to begin on Sept. 14.

Garcia is charged with first-degree murder in the March 2008 slayings of Dr. William Hunter's 11-year-old son and the family's housekeeper and the May 2013 killings of Dr. Roger Brumback and his wife, Mary. Garcia has pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutors have said they think Garcia was motivated by revenge in both attacks because he had been fired from the Creighton University Medical School pathology department in 2001.
