Former State Sen. Lavon Heidemann chosen as Lt. Governor

Former Nebraska State Senator Lavon Heidemann is the state’s new Lieutenant Governor.

Governor Dave Heineman announced Heidemann’s appointment Wednesday afternoon. Heidemann served two terms in the Nebraska Legislatureand was chairman of the Appropriations Committee. Heidemann was elected to the Nebraska Board of Regents last November.

Heidemann called it an “honor and privilege” to be appointed to the post. He replaces former Lieutenant Governor Rick Sheehy, who resigned earlier this month following a World-Herald investigationthat revealed he used a state-issued cell phone to carry on personal relationships with four women.
