“Second to None” was the theme of this year’s Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce’s annual meeting.
This year’s guest speaker was former US Senator and Secretary of Defense, Chuck Hagel. Hagel talked about leadership and the need for leaders to understand their responsibilities. He said the greatest responsibility a leader has is not to those they are leading, but rather to address immediate problems. Hagel said it’s also equally important to prepare an institution for the day you leave…
"It’s all about people. Never forget that. That’s what I have tried to do as many mistakes as I’ve made. In everything I have ever done, I have always tried to reorient the people. No matter how smart the machines are, in the end it is people and I hope it will always be that way.”
The Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce’s annual meeting was held February 9th. Awards were given out in three areas: Chairman’s Award of Excellence, the Volunteer of the Year Award and the Headliner of the Year Award.
Additionally, the Chamber also celebrated being named 2015 Chamber of the Year for North America.
