The final three forums with the candidates for the Omaha Public Schools board are Tuesday evening.
The forums are with the candidates for Subdistricts 7, 8, and 9. All three forums begin at 7pm. Legislation passed earlier this year in the Nebraska Legislature cut the number of OPS Subdistricts from 12 to 9, with new board members elected this spring.
The Subdistrict 7 forum will be held at Norris Middle School. Current school board member Danyelle Baratta is running for the Subdistrict 7 seat. She has two opponents in the race: Katie Underwood, and Andy Allen.
The Subdistrict 8 forum is at Bryan High School. Subdistrict 8 has six candidates: Lacey Merica, Meg Cordes, Juliana V. Garza, Eugene Hoffmann, William Forsee, and Mark C. Walenz.
South High School is the site of the Subdistrict 9 forum. Subdistrict 9 candidates are Sarah Brumfield, a current OPS board member; Brian Villafuerte, Rebecca Barrientos-Patlan, and William J. Gaughan.
The forums are sponsored by the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce and the Omaha World-Herald.
Omaha’s primary election is next Tuesday.
