Founders Week 2015 is underway at Creighton

Creighton University celebrates Founders Week with events today through Saturday.

This afternoon, Creighton will hold a Founders Day Convocation as well as an Award Recognition reception.

Adam Klinger, Public Relations Specialist, says Founders Week is meant to celebrate Creighton’s rich history, its bright future and where they are as a school in the present.

He says Founders Day began 107 years ago to mark the one-year death of John A. Creighton.

Klinger says the event brought the Omaha community and the university community together to celebrate his philanthropy.

Students, staff and faculty will all be recognized at the awards reception.

"You have staff who are going above and beyond and students who have displayed exceptional leadership abilities who are going to be recognized at the convocation.  And then there’s the Founders Footsteps Award which honors students that have devoted themselves independently to philanthropic efforts, raising funds or donations for charitable purposes.  That kind of thing.”
