Free Group Exercise Classes in Downtown Omaha

By Cheril Lee

Omaha , NE – The Omaha Downtown Improvement District and the Downtown Family YMCA are offering a series of free group exercise classes this month and next.

DID Executive Director Joe Gudenrath says there will be three separate class options: boot camp, race conditioning and zumba. He says all classes are free and take place outside in various locations downtown.

Gudenrath says there are two specific goals of the program, "To activate people and get them to participate in activities and fitness classes to enhance their health. The other one is to take advantage of the downtown public spaces and to activate them with people and programs that can benefit both the individuals and the downtown community."

Ultimately, Gudenrath says DID is striving to promote an active and inviting downtown space. In August, classes take place at the Gene Leahy Mall with September's classes held at Omaha World-Herald Park.
