Encouraging healthy behavior is the goal of a Douglas County initiative called the GO! Challenge.
Douglas County high schools participated in the contest. Students were encouraged to submit videos and photos demonstrating a healthy lifestyle, in hopes their peers would do the same.
Steven Jackson, Supervisor of Health Promotion for the Douglas County Health Department, says the campaign relied on social media to spread the message of health.
A 2012 youth risk behavior survey found more than 30 percent of Douglas County youth are overweight or obese. 30 percent got 60 or more minutes of exercise every day.
Westside High School won the GO! Challenge this year.
