Great Plains Theatre Conference returns May 23rd

29 plays are part of this year’s PlayLab and MainStage at the Great Plains Theatre Conference.

The 10th annual conference begins Saturday. The 29 plays were chosen from 578 submissions, and will be presented at Metro Community College’s Fort Omaha Campus. Scott Working, associate artistic director for the Theatre Conference, says the theatre conference also features evening PlayFest readings.

Working says this year’s PlayFest events all have a Nebraska history theme, with one focusing specifically on the stories of South Omaha residents. Another tells the story of a western Nebraska ballpark.

Working says the conference has become nationally known over the past decade and has built relationships among playwrights.

More information is available at www.mccneb.edu/gptc. The Great Plains Theatre Conference is May 23rd through 30th.
