Green Bellevue Plans Fifth Annual Sarpy County Earth Day

Green Bellevue will hold the 5th annual Sarpy County Earth Day celebration on Sunday, April 29th, in partnership with Bellevue Public Schools, Sarpy County, and the City of Bellevue.

Corrie Oberdin, Sarpy County Earth Day Coordinator, says two of the featured outdoor events are the Recycling Exhibit -- where people can learn more about what happens to their recycled goods – and the Eco-friendly Auto Showcase.

“This year we’re partnering with the Sierra Club. Beardmore Subaru is sponsoring, so they will have cars there. But we’re actually having people who drive electric cars and environmentally friendly cars. I’ve also heard we might have a Tesla. But, the owners will be there; you can talk to them if you’ve looked at an electronic vehicle and you don’t know how easy it is to own one.”

Oberdin says the indoor Green Expo will include a number of environmental groups as well as businesses dedicated to environmentally friendly practices, all geared towards education and connections for those looking for ways to get more involved.

There will also be an electronics recycling collection as well as several activities for children and young adults, including kite-making and a “trashion” show.
