Guardian of Childhood Exhibit on View at Joslyn through May

The Joslyn Art Museum is currently presenting the children’s exhibit, William Joyce: Guardian of Childhood, in the Mind’s Eye Gallery.

Amy Rummel, Director of Marketing and Public Relations for Joslyn, says the exhibit includes original art from the popular animated children’s program, Rolie Polie Olie.

Joyce won an Emmy award for his work on the show.  Rummel says visitors can also see Joyce’s Academy award-winning digital work for The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore

Rummel says some of Joyce’s earliest works are also on view.

"There are works Joyce drew when he was a little boy in this exhibition.  So he’s written his name at the bottom of these really imaginative crayon drawings.  It says ‘Bill’ at the bottom of them, the way kids sign their artwork.  And these are from when he was a little kid.  And I think this is fascinating for children and adults alike to see the development of an incredibly successful author and illustrator.”

On Saturday, February 13th, kids and families are invited to enjoy the William Joyce exhibit at Joslyn’s KickstART Saturday from 10 am to noon.

Rummel says the event will include art projects, a musical sing-a-long and the screening of Joyce’s animated short film, The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore.

The Guardians of Childhood Exhibit is on view through May 15th.  Admission to the exhibit and related events is free.
